ICT as Constructive tool
Reflecting on my journey, I realize how tools like websites, blogs, Google Classroom, Cmap Tools, and Learning Management Systems (LMS) have transformed the way I learn, organize, and interact. ICT can be a powerful constructive tool in education, supporting students in actively building their knowledge and understanding through various digital tools and resources. It enables them to connect new information with prior knowledge, fostering deeper learning and promoting various skills like technological literacy and critical thinking.
Academically,
ICT has made learning more accessible and engaging. When I first used Google
Classroom, it felt like having a personal assistant. Assignments, notes, and
feedback were all centralized, making it easier to manage my studies. It also
facilitated communication with teachers and classmates, encouraging
collaboration and timely discussions. It also helped me to construct knowledge
actively.
Cmap Tools
introduced me to concept mapping, which helped me visualize and connect new
ideas to the prior knowledge more clearly. Creating diagrams to link topics
made complex subjects easier to understand and retain, especially during exam
preparation supporting personalized learning. It gave me a structured way to
organize thoughts and see the bigger picture. Promoting active learning where I
can visually engage with the information creating my own representation rather
than passively receiving it and prepares
students for real-world skills.
Personally,
ICT has broadened my outlook. LMS platforms such as virtual learning
environment (vle) further streamlined my academic responsibilities. Having a
single portal for course materials, grades, and announcements reduced the
confusion of juggling multiple subjects and deadlines. This organization helped
me stay focused and reduced stress as I can access anytime and anywhere.
I have
experienced the constructive use of ICT during project-based learning
activities. Tools like canvas helped me express ideas creatively, encouraged me
to organize content meaningfully and reflect critically on what I had learned.
Doing research on waste management we created a poster using a canvas. These
experiences were far more engaging and memorable.
In conclusion, ICT has played a vital role in shaping my growth. It has made education more interactive, improved my organization and communication, and equipped me with valuable life skills enhancing creativity and engagement. As I move forward, I remain grateful for the opportunities ICT has provided in my academic and personal development.
