ICT as Communicative tool

Over the semester, I have come to understand that communication is no longer bound by physical presence or traditional tools. ICT as a communicative tool has transformed how I engage with my peers and tutors. We use software’s to share our opinion, ideas which involves two-way process that are sender and receiver.

Tools like telegram, Gmail, and virtual learning environment (vle) have become integral, especially in academic environment. Group assignments, which earlier required in-person meetups, are now efficiently handled through telegram and collaborative Google Docs. One of the most frequently used tools in my academic communication is telegram. Our class groups serve as immediate platforms to share updates, clarify doubts, and exchange resources. For instance, during a group assignment on Teaching Literacy Skills in Lower Primary, where we needed to make video, we used telegram to assign roles, remind each other of deadlines, and share voice notes for clarification. In one project in science, we used telegram to collaborate in real-time, resolving doubts instantly. Also, during presentations, I used messenger and telegram which enhanced clarity and interaction with classmates and tutors anytime and anywhere. Enhancing interaction between learners and also encourages collaborative learning. It also provides clarity and coherence.

Another powerful communicative platform I rely on is Google Docs. This tool allows multiple users to edit the same document in real time, making it perfect for group work. We used Google Docs extensively during a group assignment on ICT writing task.  Where each member contributed simultaneously when developing a lesson plan, they left comments where ever needed, and discussed sections using the built-in chat feature. Another tool I discovered this semester is Padlet, where our instructor posted topics for discussion and we responded by posting texts. I learned to appreciate diverse viewpoints and received comments and immediate feedbacks that helped me reflect and improve. Using such communicative tool enhances interaction and collaboration between the learners and it increases profitability.

Outside academics, communicating using ICT tools help me stay connected with peers and communities. Platforms like blog also offer a space to engage in discussions, share knowledge, and build networks which is crucial for career development.

Telegram, as shown in the screenshot, serves as an effective tool for collaboration and communication during group assignments. Through instant messaging, students can share ideas, clarify doubts, and discuss project details in real-time. The ability to send files, voice notes, and images makes it a convenient platform for coordinating tasks, fostering teamwork, and ensuring efficient progress throughout the assignment.
